Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Job DescriptionWood is seeking a Senior Offshore Structural Engineer to join our Qatar team. This role supports study, FEED, EPC, and PMC scopes, ensuring execution aligns with project plans, safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.Market FocusOffshore Oil and Gas (primary)Onshore Oil and Gas (supporting knowledge)ResponsibilitiesPerform conceptual, FEED, studies, and detailed offshore analyses and design per project specifications and codes.Perform preliminary sizing of structural members for 2D/3D modelling.Prepare structural models using SACS and undertake analyses for operating, installation, transportation, loadout, and fabrication conditions.Ensure structural compliance with specifications, codes, and national/international standards.Prepare design sketches and calculations for primary, secondary, and tertiary steel design.Provide on-job training to junior engineers.Coordinate with other disciplines and designers for structural drawings and details.Perform design verification, including single-discipline checks and inter-discipline checks (IDC).Undertake structural weight estimation for project weight reports.Prepare MTOs, specifications, and subcontract documents.Review client and vendor data for structural implications.Prepare technical bid evaluations.Ensure all work follows HSE and Quality procedures with a high standard of safety.Provide technical support and respond to site visits, surveys, and queries.Communicate complex issues clearly to establish understanding.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Offshore Marine Engineering.8–12 years of experience in Oil & Gas with a major contractor or consultant.Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in Qatar, Grade B (or Chartered Engineer if not enrolled).Proven core Structural Engineering skills, preferably in offshore Oil & Gas.Experience across greenfield and brownfield, onshore/offshore, Pre-FEED to EPC, focusing on offshore upstream.Self-motivated, proactive, with strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to impact and influence fellow workers and demonstrate customer focus.Analytical and innovative, able to manage new technology.Good organizer, motivator, and supervisor.Strong working knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, standards, and codes.Experience working independently/ remotely while coordinating with technical leadership in Doha office.Experience supporting cross-discipline activities in a small project office.What We OfferMeaningful projects in oil & gas and emerging energy sectors.Diversity and inclusion commitment.Competitive salary with regular reviews.Life insurance, medical coverage, and end-of-service benefits per Qatar Labor Law.Professional membership reimbursement.Global connections with leading industry experts.
