Business Development Manager

12 years of experience in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a similar discipline from a reputable university. Preference will be given to candidates holding an MBA.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Manage business development activities in Qatar and internationally (EMEA, Americas, and APAC), assessing opportunities related to existing and potential power/water assets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, business partners, and other agencies involved in QEWC projects.
  • Construction Projects: Oversee and coordinate all plant site construction activities in collaboration with the Head of Construction to ensure timely, budget-compliant, and specification-based completion.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Chief Business Development Officer on construction progress, strategic plans, technical analysis, and financial outcomes.
  • Lead contractual and technical meetings with contractors, developers, and purchasers for new business opportunities.
  • Review EPC contractors’ progress reports and escalate major issues to the Chief Business Development Officer.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with QEWC’s vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
  • Provide expert advice to leadership on business development and operational strategies across EMEA, Americas, and APAC regions.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of industry trends, market research, and feasibility studies to identify new investment and partnership opportunities.
  • Leadership: Manage team objectives, performance, and professional development to achieve departmental goals efficiently.
  • Budgeting: Oversee the preparation, monitoring, and control of departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal performance.
  • Change Management: Drive continuous improvement in processes, policies, and systems in alignment with international standards and evolving market conditions.
  • Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of departmental reports that meet QEWC’s policy and quality standards.

Decision-Making Authority

Operates under mandates authorized by the Chief Business Development Officer, ensuring all activities uphold accountability, transparency, and high-quality oversight. Engages in strategic decision-making processes related to department operations and long-term planning.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the power, energy, and water sectors, including emerging trends and technologies.
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory); Arabic proficiency is a strong advantage.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
